Mentorship is not just a moment in time; it is a lifelong exchange of wisdom, connection, and growth that continues long after the programme ends.

One of the many reasons I created BWHR was to empower HR professionals to reach their full potential, not just in their careers, but in how they see themselves, the rooms they walk into, and the value they bring.

Over the last seven years, we have mentored over 200 professionals, and our ambition is clear. By 2030, we aim to have supported over 1000 individuals through this journey. But behind every number is a story, and this year’s story has been one of resilience, commitment, and purpose.

Cohort 7 did not come without its challenges.

We received over 150 applications, a clear reflection of the demand and the need within our community. Yet at one point, we had only one mentor come forward.

It would have been easy to scale back, to reduce expectations, or to pause. But when you are anchored in purpose, you find a way to keep going.

And this is where partnership made all the difference.

ISS Facility UK stepped forward to sponsor this cohort, ensuring we could support the number of professionals who needed us. Their commitment was not just financial; it was a belief in what BWHR stands for and the impact we continue to create.

I want to give special recognition to Jadesola Oyefule, Head of Talent at ISS UK and a BWHR Ambassador. Jade’s advocacy, consistency, and belief in this community have been instrumental. Quite simply, without her, this cohort would not have achieved the level of success it did.

What we witnessed this year was powerful.

A 96% success rate, with many of our mentors and mentees choosing to continue their relationships beyond the formal three-month programme. Because that is what mentorship should be, not transactional, but transformational.

To every mentor who gave their time, their wisdom, and their presence, thank you. To every mentee who showed up, committed to the process, and leaned into growth, I see you.

The knowledge you have gained, the confidence you have built, and the relationships you have formed will continue to serve you long after this programme.

As Cohort 7 comes to an end on 30 June, what remains is not just a completed programme, but a strengthened community.

BWHR was built to create spaces where ethnic minority HR professionals, and our allies, can grow, connect, and thrive together.

If you have been watching from the outside, unsure if this community is for you, consider this your invitation.

Now is the time to invest in your growth, your network, and your future. Join us as a member or attend our upcoming conference on 23 and 24 September.

As part of this, we are currently offering a 10% discount until 30 June 2026.

Because the right community does not just support your journey, it transforms it.

To everyone who has been part of this cohort, thank you for trusting us.

This may be the end of the programme, but it is only the beginning of what comes next.
