Hello π
Social media has become one of the most powerful tools for creating awareness around our work as HR professionals. It is where conversations happen, where opportunities are discovered, and where many people position themselves for visibility and growth.
For many, it has become the primary space to build connections and open doors.
Yet, in the middle of all this, something important has quietly shifted.
Many HR professionals have, almost without realising it, lost touch with what it truly means to connect beyond the screen.
There is now a strong emphasis on showing up online, being consistent, and creating content that captures attention. And while all of this has its place, it can also become mentally exhausting.
You find yourself trying to keep up with algorithms, holding attention for a few seconds at a time, constantly thinking about what to say next, how to say it, and whether it will land.
Some days, no matter how much effort you put in, it feels like you are speaking into a void.
Consistency is important, of course. It helps people become familiar with your voice and your perspective. But consistency on its own does not always translate into meaningful engagement or real opportunities.
Over time, it becomes easy to measure your value through likes, reposts, comments, and impressions, even though those metrics rarely tell the full story.
The connections you build in real life carry a different kind of weight. When people meet you, hear you speak, work with you, or experience your professionalism first-hand, they remember you in a way that no algorithm can replicate.
There is no filter on your personality, no reduction of your value into numbers.
What people take away is your energy, your authenticity, your competence, and how you make them feel.
This is exactly what we have seen within the BWHR community over the years.
What started as a network has grown into something much deeper. We have seen genuine friendships form, opportunities open, collaborations begin, and yes, even those βHR bestieβ relationships that people proudly speak about within their circles. It is not accidental.
It is the result of people choosing to show up, to engage, and to invest in each other beyond the digital space.
Real-life connection may feel slower, but it is deeper, more intentional, and far more sustainable.
So this is my encouragement to you.
Take that step to reconnect in a more meaningful way. Be intentional about building your relationship equity, not just your online presence.
Join us as a member of BWHR or attend our upcoming conference on the 23rd and 24th of September.
It is more than an event; it is an opportunity to invest in relationships that will support your growth in ways that go far beyond visibility.
And to make that step even easier, we are offering a 10% discount on membership (member10) and conference (Conf26) tickets until 30 June 2026.
The return on relationship equity is not always immediate, but it is always meaningful.
